THE CITYPLOT

COLLECTIVE

Cityplot is a collective of professional urban food growers, educators and permaculture designers

We encourage city dwellers to grow their own vegetables, herbs, edible flowers AND FRUIT and give them the tools to do so.

We believe that it is possible to grow healthy organic food on all scales in and around the city: from private growing spaces to community gardens, from schools and restaurants to large-scale urban food growing projects.

We start with the basics: from planting seeds to composting, and from attracting pollinators to your garden to harvesting. We demonstrate how simple and fun it is to provide healthy and sustainable alternatives to the global food system while creating holistic lifestyles for yourself and those around you.

Cityplot team members have extensive expertise in organic gardening, permaculture, architecture & landscaping, balcony & rooftop gardening, indoor & vertical gardening,  companion planting, square meter gardening, ‘lasagna’ gardening, herb spirals, restaurant gardens, seed saving, harvesting, pickling & preserving, composting, vermiculture, building healthy soil, sprouting & microgreens, ‘regrowing’ food, winter gardening, heritage & exotic plants, edible flowers, urban beekeeping & attracting pollinators, keeping chickens in the city, supporting community gardens, organising seed swaps, giving bicycle tours, and more!

We are based in Amsterdam, Berlin and Barcelona, but love to connect with urban gardeners anywhere on the planet.

Come join us, and expect to get dirty!

CITYPLOT ÉS UN Col·lectiu D'HORTICULTOR@S URBAN@S, EDUCADOR@S I DISSENYADOR@S DE PERMACULTURA.

TENIM els nostres centres A AMSTERDAM, Berlín I MOLT RECENTMENT A BARCELONA, PERÒ ENS ENCANTA Connectar AMB HORTICULTORS URBANS DE TOT EL MÓN.

THE CITYPLOT FOUNDATION

The Cityplot Foundation (separate from the Cityplot Collective) was established in 2017. The goal of the foundation is to encourage Amsterdammers to make conscious and sustainable food choices, and to inspire and stimulate future-proof agriculture by offering activities and workshops. The members of the Cityplot Collective generally carry out their work independently, unless it is expressly indicated that the work is taking place under the auspices of the foundation. The board of the Cityplot Foundation consists of Jan Doerr (Chair), Wim Verkaart (Treasurer), Tamara Mohr, Sarah Essbai and Amy Crocker.

JAN DOERR

He/him
Cityplot board member

Having just arrived in Amsterdam, Jan joined Pluk! CSA as a volunteer in the spring of 2020. During the months of lockdown, the project was one of the few joyful places to meet like-minded people, and Pluk grew close to his heart. Now a harvester, Jan loves cooking the Pluk! veggies with their deep flavours and funky shapes and colours. As member of the board of Cityplot, he supports the collective with tedious but necessary admin work.

TAMARA MOHR

She/her
Cityplot board member

Tamara Mohr is cultural anthropologist, born in Amsterdam, and works for the international environmental justice organisation Both ENDS. At Both ENDS her main focus is on strengthening civil society organisations in Africa, Asia and especially Latin America that are working on the nexus between women, climate and environment. She has been involved as a volunteer and harvester from the first year Pluk! started and is also a board member.

SARAH ESSBAI

She/her
Cityplot board member

Sarah joined Pluk! CSA in 2017, and has since been a happy harvester and volunteer. She believes that food is more than sustenance; it’s a powerful tool for connecting with others and our environment. An architect and urban planner, Sarah hopes to support Cityplot’s mission to educate and celebrate food in her role as board member. She envisions a future where food is not just a necessity but a source of joy, a reflection of our values, and a cornerstone of healthy lives and sustainable communities.

AMY CROCKER

She/her
Cityplot board member

Amy Crocker began volunteering with Pluk! in 2020 and immediately felt part of a dedicated, expert and fun community. She became a harvester, and then in 2022 a Board member, and has continued to value her connection to this amazing CSA project in Amsterdam. Through her support for Pluk! and Cityplot, she wants to enable others to experience the vital connection between nature, food, community and wellbeing.
