Beginner’s Urban Gardening: 3 class series

This is a series of three classes. Additional dates may be added if all seats are filled.
Did you ever want to start an urban edible garden in the city, maybe even on your balcony? Would you like to transform your backyard full of tiles into a vegetable garden? Or did your first attempt to grow your own herbs/vegetables fail and you are hesitant to try again? If any of this sounds familiar to you, then this workshop is a perfect fit. During these three classes (each about 2.5 - 3 hours), Amy will walk you through how she converted her tile-covered yard to a balanced edible garden. She will also provide tips on what to grow, how to make a crop plan and how to maintain a healthy, balanced garden in the years to come.

What you will get out of this workshop series:
Confidence & knowledge to take home and start your own small edible garden
Seeds and seedlings shared with you for your own urban garden
Practical experience through hands-on activities in each session (outside in the garden when weather permits).

Examples of topics covered:
Intro to permaculture: what, why, how?
What you can/want to grow in your garden and how to start (planning & executing)
Maintenance and keeping a balanced ecosystem in your garden: pests and beneficial insects/creatures
